Carol's love of animals, especially dogs and horses, is obvious in everything she writes.

Her love of dogs and working in rescue has led her to write from the heart and through a dog's eyes. A dog's unconditional love for his human is what she emphasizes in her writing. Her message is clear. "If a dog can love us unconditionally, why can't we do the same with each other?" And, her paranormal stories are often filled with characters that might be the most difficult to love.

Carol's love of writing and dogs began at 14 when she started telling her stories to Labrador Retrievers, Basset Hounds and any stray that happened by. It wasn't long before people stopped to have a listen as well. Now, Carol writes for people and speaks to large audiences, dogs included.

This story is riveting. And somewhat sad. Carol has her happy ending, but I see this story played out across so many lives. It seems to be a struggle common for 20-somethings. There are generational problems in our country (and maybe beyond) where we are unable to give our children the tools they need to make positive, fulfilling choices. Many do figure it out, but so many do not, or they take half a lifetime to discover the "secret." I'm glad Carol chose to share the ups and downs of her journey so others may benefit.

I opened this book and glanced at the first page, intending to read it later when I had more time. Well, I couldn't put it down! It was engrossing and entertaining, with well-developed characters and themes. I was sad when the book ended because I wanted to hear more of the story, but happy that Carol finally found her prince after all the frogs.

Every woman who's had a bad relationship, a dysfunctional mother-daughter relationship, or children that needed protection from an alcoholic father should read this book. What I liked about it though, is that here's a woman who has let herself become a victim throughout her young adult life and gathers the strength and conviction to overcome all the bad things in it. It brings a positive message to us all - you can do anything if you believe that you can. I found myself truly loathing her wicked husband and adoring the one who becomes the love of her life. If you want a story that will make you laugh and cry, and feel inspired at the end, this is the one!

If I'd read this book earlier in life I might have saved myself some grief. The love of her life is a real prince. I'll bet a lot of people who read this book won't believe he exists. He's wonderful. He's a fully realized man, so rare in this world. What a wild ride. I could hardly put it down. How brave this woman is to open herself up to the world the way she does. Oprah should get behind it. It's her kind of book!

My girlfriend has this book and loved it, so one rainy Saturday I decided to check it out. I have to tell you I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a wide range of male characters in the book that fascinated me, and I loved the author's family. They were dysfunctional, but they loved each other so much, and it made my think a lot about my own family. I'd highly recommend it for anyone who likes to read about relationships of all kinds.

This woman went through so much. I kept wanting to tell her to get a

grip on her life, and it made me think about things that I have been through

and how I handled them. It forced me to be somewhat introspective, and that

was helpful. I loved her "Mama" - selfish though she appeared, what a great

character - and she was a real person! I'm recommending it to all my

    friends. - Lee Brown

Although I was uncomfortable with some of the painful details of this woman's story I knew it was because it was real! The author paints her story in a way that you can identify with her. She vividly describes the steps she took to become a healthy vital woman of strength. A must read for every woman...and for every man who cares about the woman in his life.
