The Little Mermaid (Frisky Fairy Tales Book 6) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 124 ratings

The King

King Samuel has been ruling Evia since he was ten, after an evil fairy cursed the rest of his family. Now a man, he seeks a queen, someone to stand by his side against the evil forces trying to overtake his land. When his family's curse is broken, he has to decide - does he fight for his throne or let his brother, the beast, reclaim it? And when he meets sinister, yet beautiful creatures from the sea, will he help them or turn them away?

The Chosen One

The Bringer of Doom, and the End of her People. Celeste has known that she's a child of prophecy since she was a little mermaid, and sometimes, the things she sees make her want to destroy the world. She's turned her back on her royal birthright, instead choosing to be a guard for the next princess. But when the next princess goes missing and evil comes swimming to their door, will Celeste give in to her urges and destroy it, and possibly her entire kingdom, or work with the human king responsible?

This novel is part 1 of a miniseries featuring some crossovers from "Beauty and the Beast", but can be read without reading "Beauty and the Beast". It is an adult retelling featuring some sexual content.

Nikki has been fascinated by fairy tales for as long as she can remember, and has always thought there had to be more to those stories that she was being told. She devoured the Red, Blue, Green, Purple and other color Fairy Books as a child, as well as uncountable numbers of traditional retellings, including the Grimm original fairy tales. None of them quite hit the spot, and as an adult, she finally figured out why.

All of the usual "romance" had little to do with real life romance. Flowers, chocolates and glass shoes don't keep the magic alive (although animals that clean your house for you might help). Nikki's fairy tales have a lot more adult elements, such as physical relations, kissing, anticipation and yes, some super-steamy naughty bits, because that's a large part of real life romance. She's always been fascinated by the idea of of the monsters, like Beast, finding true love the way they are, without having to turn into a man at the end of the story. Because really, isn't that what true love really is? Acceptance?

I was highly anticipating this ever since I read this author’s Beauty and the Beast series. And I absolutely loved it. Now here is her take on the little mermaid. And, I loved this version so far! Even though this book was a little bit short and I read it in a day. I highly enjoyed it and I totally cannot wait for more. It is nice to get to know Samuel a little bit more. And of course, I love Celeste and her curious little sister, Lahni, as they discovered travel within their kingdom. This kid also be read as a standalone but it’s more fun when you read the Beauty and the Beast series. As I said I cannot wait for the next installment in this little mermaid series. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer but, I’m totally going to buy the next books!

This short story is a different take on the fairy tale we all know and love. While it was different, it was a good retelling nonetheless. it has strong characters, a good plot, and is well written. Theres action and intrigue and sparks start to fly. by the end i knew id be buying the next to see where this couple takes us.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book that's enhanced by reading the previous books first

This is book 6 of Frisky Fairy Tales series, the first of the Little Mermaid mini series, and it is a great retelling of a classic fairytale. Whilst it can be read as a standalone story series, you'll get a lot more out of it if you've read the previous books - the Beauty and the Beast mini-series (which makes up books 1-4), and the Little Red Riding Hood Story (book 5) - as there's lots of crossover references with characters and events. There are graphic adult scenes in this book, so be prepared for them, though you can skip over them if you want. This was a gripping read which I loved and highly recommend, and I really am glad that we are seeing more of Sam (Beast's brother). Can't wait for the next book!
