Displaced (TimeRift Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 98 ratings

When sixteen-year-old Bea Cooper inherits a bizarre device with unanticipated power, she finds herself unexpectedly transported to another place and time where she must rely on a stranger—a strong but aloof man named Durango—to help her get home. One question, however, lingers: Can she really trust a man whose motives seem to be self-centered at best?

Making matters worse, unbeknownst to Bea there is an evil adversary that not only knows who she is, but also wants to stop her from ever returning to her own time. It will take everything in her power for Bea to find a way back home.

With the perfect balance of intrigue, suspense, humor and romance, Displaced is a time-travel adventure that you are sure to fall in love with!

I really enjoyed reading this book. The language was fairly clean, and I felt comfortable reading it. I didn't want to stop most of the time, and when I did I kept thinking about it. - Jess (★★★★★ Goodreads Review)

I would definitely recommend this to lovers of Sci fi or steampunk leaning fiction. - Ellie Mitchell (★★★★★ Goodreads Review)

Bea inherits a time travel box, though she never knows what it is until it's too late. She unknowingly presses a light on the box and travels to a distant future, far from her own reality. Durango rescues her and helps her in this new future time. The characters are young and unique, doing and acting as you would expect from young minds. It's very unique and interesting. I like that it is different from my usual reads. Refreshing. I look forward to the next book.

Beatrice's grandfather dies and leaves her the contents of his safe-deposit box. She and her step-mom expect money, but all she gets is a small plastic box without instructions. Lots of tension between Bea and her step-mom, and it isn't made better by the lack of a bankable inheritance. The characters are well defined and Bea is a typical teenager. However, she does approach her sudden departure from New York City to somewhere in the country with solid reasoning.
It's a good story with twists to keep the reader interested. And the ending is unusual.

I love a book that is fast paced, intriguing, and well written without resorting to sex, violence, foul language, or spiritism. Such books are few and far between. Several twists kept me guessing and I was only right half the time.

The Mc annoyed me occasionally when she continually jumped to the wrong conclusions about people's motives but then she is only 16 and hopefully will grow in maturity as the series progresses.

Loved the main character's flaw: panic attacks! Time travel, robots fighting in an arena and good, clean fun make this a book I will definitely have my kids and their friends read. No swearing or gore and only a kiss ....I wish more authors would write like this.

“Displaced” follows the adventures of Bea Cooper, a sixteen-year-old who finds herself transported through time and into a world completely different than her own. She happens upon two men - Durango and Mordael - who she must quickly learn to trust if she will safely make it out of their world and back to hers. I enjoyed this time trek into the future as well as the journey taken by Bea and her friends. I hope to read more of their adventures soon.
