Being a teenager is already hard enough. When you are a teenager in high school, you cannot imagine anything beyond High School. It is amazing how so many adults look back and realize that 99% of high school was a blur and so not relevant to their current life. However, those four years of high school, as you are experiencing them can be the hardest years of your life. Not everyone can be popular, the smartest, the prettiest or even the best athlete. You may not have the most money, the best clothes or get invited to the coolest parties. You may or may not have a boyfriend/girlfriend, best friend or circle of friends. You might come from a two parent home, an abusive home or a broken home. There are so many factors at play in EVERY teenager in this country. The sad thing is, no one knows even 99% of what they go through on a daily basis. Parents try to stay involved but life gets so hectic. Best friends try to be there but have lives of their own. People make bad decisions, horrible mistakes and are sometimes just in the wrong place at the wrong time because they trusted the wrong person.
In the book Saving Me, we meet Peyton. Peyton is smart, gets good grades and has her own small tight circle of friends. She has admired a cute guy from a far for many years because she knows he is out of her league. She is not really the boy crazy type as she has her sites set on college. The day the new adorable boy shows up at school, all this changes. Peyton suddenly finds herself the center of HIS attention and could not be happier. How had she missed out on this for so long she has no idea. Little did she know how much her life would change that ONE night, on the way to a party. What would you do when the nice safe little cocoon you lived inside suddenly burst wide open and you were exposed to all the horrors the world had? Would you crumble and fall or would you fight through it? Would you confide in your best friend or keep the hurt and pain to yourself?

The first twist had me holding my breathe it was so unexpected, from there I couldn't stop reading. There's emotional upheaval good and bad which I think is why I loved it. It was so real rather than just a sappy happy read.
In life we have good and bad moments and this covered all of it in such a great way the characters reactions are moving and real. I would reccomend this book for ages 15 and above. There are sensitive issues raised maybe younger readers wouldn't be suited!!
I will certainly be looking out for more books by Kelsey Blanton.............
