Seth was brilliant, caring, sexy and dead. Now, a month after his death in a fiery car crash it seems his ghost has returned to haunt Julia Morris. The anguished Julia suspects that the tormented Seth patiently waits in some kind of a deathless limbo for her to join him. When Seth’s twin Simon shows up, he relays a horrifying truth; his dead brother was not only murdered by the mob, but Julia is their next intended victim! Forced to trust a man her deceased lover disdained, the pair are soon on the run, hoping to find a secreted computer disk before the mob’s hit man does. To make matters worse, Julia discovers she is attracted to Simon even as Seth’s ghostly whisper warns her to beware, hinting at a devastating secret that may destroy every memory she holds dear.

This is my first of Loren Lockner books. I'm very impressed. The story revolves around two powerful characters - Julia and Simon. You don't know what to expect, because this is more than a romantic novel. The mystery continues throughout the plot, for it leaves the reader equally guessing whether the guy involved is the hero or villain.

The conversations is heart felt and strikes an emotional chord. The romance is equally exciting and beautiful - sometimes relatable and sometimes deceptive.

Although the book is less than 400 pages, it is of right length. The writing style is vivid and we are caught in the action as Simon and Julia take us to different places.

The best part of the story is Seth's past baggage. The confusions of the protagonist is amusingly described when Julia says 'Scars fade with time, but not how I feel about you' and Simon asks confused 'Or Seth?'. As the end draws near, we have no idea who is Seth vs Simon. Brilliantly conveyed and impressive climax. Please don't read the last few chapters, wait for it.

Highly recommended, I already bought more of Loren's novels.

A few years ago I read Heart of Africa by Loren Lockner. It left an impression so when I saw another of her books appear on Amazon I read the synopsis. The synopsis had such an unlikely scenario but I remember how well Lockner writes and decided to give it a try. In the hands of a less talented author the storyline about a deceased man, Seth, in limbo trying to message his beloved Julia would have fallen flat. But here it works and was surprisingly entertaining. It holds true that it is the telling of the story and the composition of the storyline that makes the story, no matter the genre who doesn’t love a good story. I don’t like to retell the plot, which many reviewers do. The themes are varied and complex: a death, a surprising sibling, a new attraction, and the twist of the main character encountering a similar death at the hands of the mob. To enrich the plot are elements of the human condition that are enticing and inviting: grieving, new interest/attraction, fear, trust, to name a few. I really enjoyed this well-crafted combination love story and mystery.

I don't have much to say about the book. It was okay. I liked it. I finished it without much effort however, it wasn't one of the best books I've read. I would still recommend it. The plot is suspenseful and the characters are interesting. I think the beginning threw me off a little the abrupt soul mate, head over hills, in love connection. Maybe that's why it wasn't one of the best but I would look for something else from this author.

I absolutely loved this book for so many reasons. The story revolved around the Santa Barbara, CA area so being a California native, it lured me in from the very beginning. It is difficult to provide a detailed review without revealing spoiler alerts and I don't believe in doing that. I have to say that the story made me cry and had me wondering what the outcome would be throughout it's entirety. I read so much that normally I can pretty much determine how a story is going to play out after reading only a couple of chapters. OH...SO NOT THE CASE WITH THIS BOOK! It had some major plot twists that completely surprised me.

This book is one that I will be reminded of every single time someone mentions the work "soulmate". Loren Lockner brings an entirely new meaning to that word. When an author can accomplish something so huge as to leave such a lasting impression on her readers...well that deserves a 5 star rating and more if it were allowed. Well done! Excellent book!

Love never dies is a book that starts out as a typical girl meets handsome man and falls in love. As I continued to read I realized that this story was not typical at all. The twists and turns had just begun.

Without revealing too much of the story, the book picks up speed and surprises and even shocks. Every time I thought I had figured out the plot there was another reveal.

The love story that unfolds in between the reveals and fast paced story, is very descriptive, passionate and touching. Loren describes scenes beautifully and one feels as if they are right there with them, an interloper in a heart wrenching love story.

The end again surprises and comes full circle. Loren tastefully brings the story and characters together in a beautiful and passionate way.

I will definitely seek out some of Loren’s other books !!

Julia, bound within grief, and haunted by her lost love, finds it impossible to recover from his death until a new man enters the stage. After being told the reason for her dead boyfriend’s murder, Julia realises she is next on the list. This is a fast-paced story with shocks around every corner, love and eerie whispers from beyond the grave. Loren Lockner writes with an extraordinary skill, luring the reader into the lives of the characters with well-described settings that capture the atmosphere of each and every scene. This is a well-crafted and ingenious novel, and one I would seriously recommend. I was hooked from the very first line and will without doubt, be reading more from this talented and gifted author. Definitely one to watch…

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling romance with plenty of twists.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 25, 2014
This isn't my usual sort of reading; I'm a crime writer and I like reading crime thrillers, and this is a romantic story, yet interwoven with enough risk and danger to keep me intrigued, and as such, the story kept me reading until the final page. It has plenty of twists and turns, and as the cover hints, the story is about emotions that reach beyond the grave. I was especially intrigued by the introduction of the phrase "soul mates" as a real process or ceremony, not just a mere saying that we throw around every day. That was somewhat fanciful but for the romantically inclined, very appealing.

If you love romance with more than a hint of danger and excitement to go with it, you'll enjoy reading this novel.

I don't normally read romance books. But I have to say I'm glad I have this one a go, I couldn't put it down! I was quite fond of Julia, through everything she fought for the man she loved. Seth is mysterious with a past that haunts him and soon catches up with him. The twists are unpredictable and it certainly keep you on the edge of the seat.
This isn't your standard love story, this is something so much more!
